There’s much we don’t know about what came after the Marathon bombings – and no one seems to be asking

The cover of Rolling Stone asked a question by combining a compelling photo – Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looking young, handsome, sensitive, mysterious – with a bold headline: Bomber. How did a kid who looked like this commit an atrocity like that? The report inside, the product of months of interviews with people who knew Tsarnaev and his family, tries to provide answers.

A lot of people don’t seem to like the question. Politicians have denounced the cover. Convenience store magnates have refused to sell the magazine. Some journalists who should know better have piled on. The media co ... Read more »

May 7, 2013 ( Recap )

Eyewitnesses to the shootout involving the alleged Boston bombers have thrown up another contradiction to the official narrative, asserting that MBTA Transit Police Officer Richard H. Donohue Jr. was not shot by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev but by other cops in a friendly fire incident.

Previous media reports had blamed the Tsarnaev brothers for the shootings of both MIT campus police officer Sean Collier and Donohue, feeding the narrative that the suspects were engaged in a desperate attempt to flee police by returning fire and throwing improvised bombs.

A New York woman used fake hospital records to pose as a Boston Marathon bombing victim with a brain injury and fraudulently collected nearly half a million dollars from the fund for victims, Massachusetts authorities said Friday.

Audrea Gause, 26, of Troy, N.Y., was arrested there Friday on a Massachusetts fugitive warrant charging her with larceny, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said.

Gause submitted a claim to the fund last month, including several pages of false medical records indicating she was treated at hospitals in Boston and in New York for a traumatic brain injury suffered in the bombings, Coakley ... Read more »

I'm appalled at seeing the new release pictures of Jahar during his time on the boat.
A 19 years old boy surrounded by an Army of police officers, marshals, militaries, and FBI's agents with advanced machines, UNARMED!!!
A rifle aimed at his forehead.
I guess now we understand why his documents were sealed..

More than three months after the deadly bombing at the Boston Marathon, the court cases stemming from the attack remain cloaked in an unusual degree of secrecy, stirring concern from transparency advocates and First Amendment lawyers.

In the high-profile criminal case against alleged bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, only 27 of 69 numbered court filings or orders are publicly available, with at least 42 entirely missing from the public docket.

Across the four criminal prosecutions related to the bombing, at least 56 legal filings are under wraps, based on gaps in the sequences in the public dockets.

Excerpt of Rolling Stone Article:

The cover of Rolling Stones Magazine - Issue August 2013.

"I could never quite get his name – Dokar? Jokar?" says Larry Aaronson, a retired Rindge history teacher (Jahar, he says, eventually told him to call him "Joe"). Aaronson, a longtime friend of the late historian Howard Zinn, also lives on Norfolk Street, down the block from the Tsarnaevs’ home. "I asked him once where he was from, and he said Chechnya. And I’m like, ‘Chechnya? Are you shitting me?’" says Aaronson. "I said, ‘My God, how did you cope with all that stress?’ And he said, ‘Larry, that’s how come we came to America, and how lucky that we came ... Read more »

A Florida medical examiner’s office said Tuesday that the FBI has ordered the office not to release its autopsy report of a Chechen man fatally shot by a Boston FBI agent in May because of the federal agency’s active internal investigation into his death.

The medical examiner’s office said it completed the autopsy report on Ibragim Todashev, a friend of suspected Boston Marathon bomber, on July 8 and that the report was "ready for release.” The agent shot and killed Todashev on May 22 in his Orlando apartment during an interrogation related to the Boston Marathon bombings.

"The FBI has informed this office that the case is still under acti ... Read more »
