BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev who is awaiting trial for allegedly lying to federal investigators probing the April 15 bombings wants his upcoming hearing canceled.


Robel Phillipos, who remains under house arrest, has a hearing scheduled for Monday.


The request was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court, saying "Mr. Phillipos gives notice of his waiver of preliminary hearing pursuant to Fed. R. Crim. P. 5.1(a)(1) and further states the parties are engaged in negotiations aimed at possible resolution of this matter."


The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth student faces a maximum of eight years in prison if convicted.

BOSTON (WHDH) -- A federal grand jury in Boston has indicted Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov for obstruction of justice in the Boston Marathon bombing investigation.


The two men, both 19 years old, were previously charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice. They are nationals of Kazakhstan and were residing in New Bedford on student visas. They were charged Friday with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstructing justice with the intent to impede the Boston Marathon bombing investigation.


Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov were originally charged on May 1, 2013, via criminal complaint.

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - The father of an unarmed Orlando Muslim shot to death in May by an FBI agent during questioning related to the Boston Marathon bombings has arrived in Florida from Russia for meetings with lawyers trying to pry details of the killing from U.S. and local officials.

Abdulbaki Todashev has retained lawyers who expect to settle on a legal strategy within a few weeks, said Hassan Shibly, executive director of the Florida Council on American Islamic Relations.


Todashev's son, Ibragim Todashev, 27, was killed in his Orlando apartment during what turned out to be the last of several voluntary interviews with agents from the FBI and other law enforcement agencies investigating the Boston bombings.
