MAKHACHKALA, Russia — The parents of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects say American investigators have once again come to their home in the southern Russian province of Dagestan to talk to them about their elder son.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev spent six months in Dagestan last year, and investigators have been trying to determine whether he was influenced or trained by local Islamic militants.

His mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, told The Associated Press that the Americans questioned her and her ex-husband on Wednesday and Thursday. She said the questions have remained focused on who could have influenced their son in Russia.

Heda Umarova first encountered conspiracy theorist Alex Jones while scouring the Internet to understand how her friend Dzhokhar Tsarnaev went from free-wheeling student to terrorism suspect.

Umarova, a 21-year-old Chechen native from Chelsea, Massachusetts, found logic and comfort in Jones, who uses his 17 hours of weekly radio broadcasts and a sprawling online empire to advance the idea that the U.S. government played a part in the April 15 explosions that killed three and injured more than 260 at the Boston Marathon. 

"A lot of it is ‘Oh my god, he is crazy,’ but a lot of stuff he says make sense,” said Umarova, who grew up knowing the Tsarnaev family. "He brings up a lot of valid points.”

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has supporters who have been sending him money while he’s locked away in Fort Devens.

Since Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was identified, arrested, and ultimately imprisoned, for allegedly setting off explosives along the marathon route with his older brother, Tamerlan, countless conspiracy websites, Twitter accounts, and Facebook pages claiming his innocence have sprouted up online.

People have even gone as far as setting up a bank account for the suspect—and depositing money into the account for him on a regular basis.

Experts say this behavior, which includes fan websites created by young girls fawning over the long-haired, baby-faced bombing suspect, is being expressed like never before.
